NEWSWORTHY

If you need a tennis key, please email Gina Womack in the business office (gwomack@viennawoods.org).  To register for any of the tennis programs in 2010, Vienna Woods will be using an on-online registration system which will be available in the coming weeks.   Please click HERE to register online for tennis once the registration is open.  If you do not have access to a computer, registration forms are available at the tennis hut or you may call the Club's business office at 703-938-0005 and ask for printed copies of the forms.  A copy of the newsletter and any other pertinent tennis news will also be posted on the bulletin board outside the tennis hut.

COURT RESERVATIONS

There will be a sign up sheet posted outside the tennis hut beginning on April 23rd.  Members may reserve one and one half-hours for doubles and one hour for singles play. Members may reserve only one future reservation on the sign-up sheet at any one time. Reservations may be made by calling (703) 281-0458 (the tennis hut) from June 6 to September 5.

The tennis shop will be open during the following dates and times:

The tennis shop will be open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Dates for this shop are June 27 to August 6th.

JUNIOR PROGRAM

The Junior Program is available to children ages 4 to 18 and includes both the spring and summer sessions, referred to as Session 1 and Session 2. See the two tables below for schedules. The classes for 7 to 18 years old start on June 1st. Note that the Tots program for children age 4-6 is available only during Session 2. It will start on Tuesday, June 29 and conclude on Thursday, July 29.

COSTS:	Tots (ages 4 to 6) -  Costs $30
	Juniors (ages 7 to 18) -  $60 for both Session 1 & Session 2

Junior Matches

The junior matches are played on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 12. Matches begin Wednesday, June 30.

We need parent volunteers to assist with driving to away matches and to help with refreshments at home matches. We would like to have a parent rep for each team.

1. Girls 10 and under

3. Girls team (11 to 18)

4. Boys team (11 to 18)

Team shirts: We will purchase team shirts at a cost of  $12.

Pre-FCPS school closing schedule: June 1 to June 24 (No tots).  Classes are two days a week depending on age and level.

Schedule after FCPS schools close: June 29 to July 29 - Classes are two days a week a depending on age and level.

Children's Tennis Camps

For those kids who want even more tennis ... we offer three 2-week camps!  These are our only children's programs that are open to non-members/renters.

Ages 7 to 13

This program is designed for the beginner to intermediate player. Classes will consist of 45 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of supervised play. The camp will run from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday, with Friday being reserved as a make-up day.

Sessions Dates:

(1) June 28 to July 9 (no class on July 5) 

(2) July 12 to July 22

There is a multisession and a sibling discount of 15% per session or sibling.  Example.  Child 1 costs $110 and thus Child 2 or Session 2 Costs $93.50.

ADULT PLAY

Ladies Team starts April 13

This year we will enter two ladies teams in the Northern Virginia Tennis League. One team will play on Thursday mornings, the other on Tuesday nights. Players can play on both teams. If you are interested in playing on the either team contact Mary Ellen Giuseppe (day team) at 703 938-4528 or email anmathg2@aol.com or the evening team captain Sue Moulton at 703-938-4190 or email gmoulton1@verizon.net. Practice for the daytime team will begin, on Monday, April 5 from 9:30am to 11:00am and conclude on Monday, June 21st. The night team will begin practice Monday, April 5 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and conclude on Monday, June 21st.  There will be no practice on May 31 (Memorial Day).

Men's Team Starts May 6

Anyone interested in participating on the men's team should contact Andy Ollis (703-426-8668). Men's practices will be held on Wednesday nights starting April 28th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The Saturday matches begin in early May and conclude at the end of July.

Mixed doubles and singles socials will be announced and posted on the tennis hut.
